Paul & Megan Visit Vicent

After being in Uganda for almost 9 months, we finally got around to visiting the boy we sponsor! Yesterday afternoon, Jamie took us out to Kasibante Vicent's house to bring some gifts and visit his family. Paul took it upon himself to do the woman's job of carrying the gift basket on his head...until a woman from the village saw and took over the job, carrying the basket the rest of the way (with no trouble balancing it on her head without using her hands!)

Here's Vicent - he's a cutie! He's 8 years old and in P2. His favorite subject is math and he loves playing football. He is such a sweet and polite little boy - we heard the words "Thank you aunty, thank you uncle" many times during our short visit!

One of the treats we included in the gift basket (along with practical items like matches, soap, sugar, oil, etc.) was a package of Skittles! Vicent made sure that each of his 8 brothers and sisters got to try some.

We were quite taken with this little goat - only a week old!

Vicent's mother served us mugs of hot porridge, which tastes a bit like watery creamed corn. She was so thankful for our visit. She also gave us a live chicken, which was a very generous gift!
