Visiting Kibaale

On Sunday morning we, along with the team, had the chance to lead the church service at our church, Masaka Full Gospel. Paul and I have been practicing with the Ugandan worship team (singing in English AND Luganda) for weeks as we prepared for our morning of ministry, and after a record length worship practice on Saturday afternoon (3 hours long) it's safe to say we were well prepared! It was great to have the team visiting at the same time, as the girls were able to join us up on stage to lead worship, and a couple of them prepared a special number to sing during offering. They also each shared their testimonies and led my Sunday school class in a great discussion about God's sovereignty. The highlight of the morning for me was listening to Paul preach in the English service. To quote our pastor, "I didn't know Paul could preach! He will be doing that again!"

Later that afternoon we drove with the team out to Kibaale and spent 3 nights there, which seems to have been one of the highlights of their whole trip so far.

Since arriving in Uganda, 3 of the team members decided they would like to sponsor children in Kibaale - yay! So on Tuesday morning we headed out on some home visits so they could each meet their sponsor child and see their homes. Visiting each home was so special, as the new sponsors were able to bring gifts, meet their child's family, and spend time praying for their needs.

Allison's sponsor child, Lasheri, is in the special needs class because she is deaf. Allison knows some sign language and was able to communicate with her, which literally made Lasheri squeal with joy!

Christy and her sponsor girl, Maureen - Maureen was SO shy, we didn't hear her speak a word the whole time! But she fell in love with a little stuffed lamb that Christy gave her and seemed pretty content after that.

We were sad to learn that Kevin's sponsor child, Benon, has been quite sick recently and is too sick to go to school right now. We were still able to visit him at home which we hope brightened his day and made him feel better at least for awhile!

Benon's mom was so thankful to learn that her son now has a sponsor!

In the afternoon we had the opportunity to visit a couple homes in the community, bring them gifts, and pray for them as well. It's always meaningful to put a face to the people that we pray for here, and to learn some of their specific needs.


Please pray with us for these children and families in Kibaale...specifically for health, their financial situations, the education of their children, and most importantly that they would experience God's love in their lives.
