Sundays

Sundays around here are always great. Church in the morning means joining our friends in worship (even if the message is sometimes hard to follow), and always ends with hugs, handshakes, hellos and meeting new people. Sundays are the only calm and peaceful day at the Timothy Centre as the workers have the day off, and the only thing happening is a whole lot of birds chirping. We love taking advantage of the quiet afternoons by sitting outside enjoying the breeze and the view of our beautiful property.

Yesterday was an exceptionally good Sunday. Our friend Elaine had spent the night, visiting from Kampala. It's always fun to have friends come spend time with us and break up what can sometimes be monotonous! The day was absolutely gorgeous (I'd like to point out to everyone at home that I got a suntan on January 17th, bahaha).

Phase 10, iced coffee, chocolate chip cookies...what more could we want?!

As we were leaving to take Elaine to catch the bus back to Kampala, our friend Ali showed up to greet us - greeting is not something taken lightly here! Always expect that someone could show up for a visit at any moment of the day - and be ready to drop what you're doing and make your guest feel welcome. Well, one thing led to another and we ended up going back to Ali's place for some delicious Indian food, a tour of his mosque clock tower (up a very scary and steep staircase), and a tour of his farm. (Read more about Ali on Lizabee's blog). His stories are fascinating about the history he has in Masaka, and he is kind and welcoming beyond belief!

It's good to have friends to enjoy our time with here - whether they are 28 year old Irish girls, or 72 year old Indian men! They both (along with the sun) made our day of rest very enjoyable.

Ali's farm is more like a giant ranch, with over 300 acres of beautiful trees and flowers. He has already offered to give us seeds and small plants - we're hoping the Timothy Centre will one day look this welcoming!
