100 Days of Doxycycline

After our recent encounters with malaria we decided it would be a good idea to go on anti-malarials. At least for awhile. At home, the pills can cost up to $5 per DAY depending on what kind you get. Not quite worth it. But, good old Uganda pulled through for us. The conversation at the pharmacy went something like this...

Me: Hello, do you sell doxycycline?
Lady: Yes.
Me: How much does it cost?
Lady: 3,500 shillings for one box.
Me: How many pills are in a box?
Lady: 100.
Me (thinking to myself, "bahaha, $1.75 for 3 months of pills!"): Alright, I'll take 2 boxes.

So, a whole $3.50 later, Paul and I are stocked up for the next 100 days, ready to be healthy and malaria-free! I highly recommend Ugandan pharmacies.
